Why We Love It
The coffee was grown by women’s organizations in Rwanda, a country that we love. We visited the Bwishaza Cooperative on our Decaf Quest and are excited to share lovely coffee from their Kungahara women’s group with you. Rwandan coffee producers and the country more broadly made quite an impression on us on our Decaf Quest. We really appreciated meeting this cooperative as well as the team at the Kopakama Cooperative Dry Mill that handles the final cleaning, sorting and quality control before exporting the green coffee. Rwanda is such a beautiful country. You can read more about our coffee travels in Rwanda here.
About the Grower
Produced by two women’s groups in western Rwanda. The Kungahara Women’s Group, part of the Bwishaza Cooperative, is led by Angelique Tuyisenge and supported by the non-profit Beautiful Coffee. These women balance farming with family life while improving coffee quality and sustainability. Additionally, the Tuvemubukene Women’s Cooperative in Rwanda’s Rubavu region produced some of the coffee in this blend. In both cases, these women’s groups work to grow and process exceptional coffee with a focus on sustainability and improving their livelihoods..
